Title: Binaural Hearing Model and Its Application
Binaural hearing is the essential for localization of sound as well as segregation of a
specific sound for human being. There are many works on binaural hearing from
various points of view; psychoacoustics, physiology and computer model. In this talk,
a computer model of binaural hearing in the frequency domain is introduced and an
application of this model for binaural hearing aid is demonstrated.
Tsuyoshi Usagawa received the B.E. from Kyushu Institute of Technology in 1981
and the M.E. degree from Tohoku University in 1983. Since 1983 he has joined
Kumamoto University and since 2004 he has been promoted to a professor of
Graduate School of Science and Technology, Kumamoto University. Since 2006, he
has been appointed a director of Center of Multimedia and Information Technologies.
He is a Member of the IEEE, The Acoustical Society of Japan (ASJ), and The
Institute of Electronic, Information and Communication Engineering (IEICE). He
serves as a Chairman of ASJ Kyushu Chapter from 2012-2014.
