The International Workshop on Smart Info-Media System in Asia (SISA) is the unique international conference sponsored by ES society of IEICE Association, Japan that gathers researchers in new information technologies and its smart systems in both aspects of hardware and software. The SISA was initially organized under the name of SISB in 2007 at King Mongkut's Institute of Technology Ladkrabang, Bangkok, Thailand. The name of the conference has been changed to SISA since 2008, and the next SISAs then have been annually hosted in Okinawa, Japan in 2008, Osaka Japan in 2009, Manila, Philippines in 2010, and Nagasaki, Japan in 2011 respectively.
The 2012 International Workshop on Smart Info-Media System in Asia (SISA 2012) was held at the Sukosol Hotel, Bangkok, Thailand on September 6-8, 2012. There were three regular sessions and one special session for overall thirty-nine papers in the fields of
• Image Processing,
• Signal Processing and Communication,
• Multimedia and Systems, and
• Signal Processing for Smart Technology and Low Power Wireless Networks.
SISA 2012 keynote speaker is Prof. Tele Tan from Department of Computing at Curtin University, Australia. His research interests include computer vision, EEG signal processing, Brain Computer Interface (BCI) and applications of them in different fields. The speech title is “Cognitive and Visual Sensing and L inks to Human Factors Research”.
SISA 2012 Banquet was held at the Suan Pakkad Palace Museum containing their Royal Highnesses Prince and Princess Chumbhot of Nagara Svarga's collection of Thai antiquities. SISA 2012 technical program committee selected three Student Paper Awards. The Best Student Paper Award is “Multiple Transmission Power Localization Algorithms in Wireless Sensor Networks Based on Support Vector Machines” from Chulalongkorn Univiversity, Thailand. The Excellent Student Paper Awards are “Fast Convergence Bias Free Adaptive Algorithm for Pre-inverse type Active Noise Control” from Tottori University and Chubu University, and “Fast Information Retrieval Method from Printed Images Considering Mobile Devices” from Kansai University, Japan. The next SISA 2013 will be held in Nagoya, Japan.
