Report from APMC 2007
APMC 2007 Organizing Committee
Asia-Pacific Microwave Conference (APMC) 2007 was organized at Grand Hyatt Erawan Hotel, Bangkok during December 11-14, 2007. It was sponsored by Electrical Engineering/ Electronics, Computer, Telecommunications and Information Technology Association (ECTI) of Thailand and technical co-sponsored by IEEE MTT-S, IET, EuMA, IEICE, URSI and IEEE GRSS. APMC is held annually in one of the Asia-Pacific countries, and achieves high-level of international communication. The conference is valid for the researchers and engineers in microwave field, and realizes international academic exchanges among those who come from all over the world.
Grand Hyatt Erawan Hotel was selected as a venue of APMC 2007 since it is located in the downtown of Bangkok. It is surrounded by shopping malls, dinings and entertainments with convenient transportations. It has excellent accommodations and meeting facilities. As the world has witnessed rapid expansion of research and development of Life Sciences, which embraces Natural Sciences, Medical Scienc and Agricultural Sciences, the theme of APMC 2007 is Technology Convergence: Microwave for Life Sciences.
Technical statistics is summarized with 829 submitted papers and 636 were accepted from 37 countries. There were 4 keynote speakers, 11 tutorial sessions, 2 special sessions and 15 invited papers. The program was arranged in 9 parallel sessions including poster sessions. The review process was carried out by the TPMS program supported by IEEE MTT-S. Four reviewers were assigned for each paper. There were four volumes of proceedings and a CD ROM. A special issue of APMC 2007 was arranged by IET. The award committee chaired by T. Itoh judged 2 APMC prizes and 1 student prize.
There were 640 (530 advanced and 110 on-site) registrations consisting of 319 regular and 321 student registrations.
